The Miramonte Resort and Spa |
Being a native from Southern California does have it's perks. For one, the amazing weather we have here, it is by far the best you can get around hands down. But it you don't feel comfortable in your bikini body the summer can be kind of a crappy time for you. So here's a beauty tip compliments of Allure magazine and yours truly!
The Amazing and inexpensive Self Tanning Process
- Self Tanner is (Ugh-maze-a-ing) and it can really work wonders! First step is to shave, wax, or touch up hair color first all these things can remove self -tanner.
- Then scrub and soften your skin with a loofah ( you can buy one at target for a $1.99 ) focusing on rough areas like your feet, knees, elbows and heels. No body scrubs!! Dab a little lotion on your knees, elbows, and ankles to keep them from turning orange (You don't to look like tanning mom).
- Then pick your poison! And don't worry this stuff is perfectly fine to use I promise! I've been using self tanner for years and I am still alive and fine. Mousses are the easiest to apply yourself but sprays are great for all the hard to reach places, like your back. L'Oreal Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self-Tanner Mist Spray ( About 9 or 10 bucks at your local drug store). It comes in a few different shades, pick something close to your skin tone (you don't want to look too dark if your naturally fair skinned).
- Start at the bottom and work your way up. This way you don't get any weird marks while your bent over applying. Save your arms for last.
- Take your time then apply powder. Wear something airy and let your skin dry for at least 10 minutes. The bottle says 5, but this is the most important step of the entire process. Then last, brush a talc-free baby powder all over. It stops the tanner from transferring all over your clothes.
Bang your done and ready for a fun day! Even if your not going to wear a bikini your legs and arms will look toner and you will feel like Malibu Barbie for a few days. Here's a picture of me a few hours after I used it!
